Trek Huayhuash Touching The Void (10 days)
10 Days/9/Nights
April to November
Moderate

During this trek we will visit Base Camp and the true story, told in Touching the Void, is not simply a dramatic turn of events, it is not just an adventure that surpasses reality, but also a true resurrection. We are clearly talking about what really happened to British mountaineers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates on Siula Grande, the remote and fascinating 6356 m high mountain in the Cordillera Huayhuash in the Peruvian Andes. It was 1985 the two mountaineers were there to climb the difficult and dangerous West Face. It was a huge and ambitious project, so much so that although it had been attempted several times, it had not been climbed. The climbers were armed with the strength and audacity of youth (Joe was 25 and Simon was 21), which, combined with the experience they had gained in the great mountains of the Alps. In addition, they were influenced by that particular style of climbing that made British mountaineers of that time approach the mountains without compromise. It is no coincidence, therefore, that they set out on this adventure on their own. And it was only due to a chance encounter that Richard Hawking, a young man like them, but with no experience in mountaineering, accompanied them to Base Camp. In July 2002, he returned to Siula Grande in the film “Touching the Void” which was filmed on the west face of Siula Grande Cordillera Huayhuash – Peruvian Mountains.
