La Cordillera Huayhuash, ubicada en los Andes peruanos, se extiende de norte a sur y alberga aproximadamente 20 picos en solo 25 km, incluyendo el Yerupaja (6617 m) y el Siula Grande (6344 m), famoso por el libro Touching the Void de Joe Simpson. El trekking en Huayhuash es considerado uno de los más bellos del mundo, con paisajes espectaculares, lagos azul turquesa y altos pasos de montaña que hacen que el esfuerzo valga la pena. Además, las montañas Urus, Ishinca y Tocllaraju, situadas en la Cordillera Blanca y en el Macizo Chinchey, están en el Valle de Ishinca y son populares entre los turistas para aclimatarse antes de escalar montañas superiores a 6000 m.
